Since 2003, the Control Arms Campaign has been calling for a strong and effective Arms Trade Treaty (ATT), a legally binding international instrument, which will draw together and consolidate states’ current obligation under international law. Given the nature of the arms trade, there is need for a comprehensive, legally binding instrument establishing common international standards for the import, export and transfer of conventional arms.
